Checkly vs Ghost Inspector, with Simrix Monitor alongside

Checkly and Ghost Inspector both drive a browser through a journey and tell you when it breaks. Simrix Monitor does the same job without code or a recorder to maintain. This page puts the three side by side so you can see which suits who will actually be looking after it.

Who is going to maintain this?

This is usually the question that decides it, and it is worth answering honestly before comparing features.

If an engineering team owns monitoring and is happy writing and versioning browser scripts, a code-first tool gives more power: arbitrary logic, fixtures, whatever the language allows. If the person who needs the alert is a store owner, a marketer or an account manager, that power is a liability, because the scripts rot the moment the site changes and nobody is left who can fix them.

Simrix Monitor is built for the second case. You pick a template, point it at a page, and choose what should be true when the journey finishes.

What can a Simrix Monitor check actually do?

These steps, in whatever order the journey needs: open a URL, type into a field, choose an option from a dropdown, press a key, click an element and wait for the page to settle, wait for a specific element, and assert the result.

An assertion can require that text is present or absent, that the page title contains something, that the URL matches a pattern, that an element exists or does not, or that at least a certain number of elements are present.

What it cannot do is sign in. Every check starts from a logged-out browser and there is nowhere to store credentials, so an authenticated journey is out of reach. It also cannot complete a purchase, upload a file, hover, or reach inside an embedded frame.

Monitoring or testing?

Simrix Monitor is a monitoring tool rather than a test suite. It watches a small number of journeys continuously on a schedule and tells you when one stops working, with a screenshot and a plain-English summary.

That framing matters for how many you set up. Two to four monitors covering the journeys that cost money when they break will serve you better than thirty that nobody reads.

Frequently asked questions

Does Simrix Monitor need me to write code?

No. You pick a template, point it at a page, and choose what should be true when the journey finishes. There is nothing to install on your site and no script to maintain as the site changes.

Can a check log in first?

No. Every check starts from a logged-out browser and there is nowhere to store credentials. A monitor can confirm your sign-in page loads and the form is present, which catches a deploy that breaks it.

Can Simrix Monitor check an API endpoint?

No. Checks drive a real browser through pages a person would visit. There is no API or HTTP-assertion check type today.

How fast can checks run?

You choose the interval on each monitor, and how fast you can go depends on your plan. The pricing page shows the fastest interval each plan allows.
