Shopify monitoring that catches a broken theme before your shoppers do

Simrix Monitor opens your Shopify store in a real browser, clicks add to cart, and confirms the cart and checkout pages actually open. There is no app to install and nothing to add to your theme. When a check fails you get a screenshot of the page and a plain-English summary of what went wrong.

How far it got

  1. Open product page
  2. Click add to cart
  3. Cart appears
  4. Checkout page opens

What happened

Clicking Checkout returned an error instead of the checkout page. Shoppers who get as far as the cart cannot go any further.

An example failed check in Simrix Monitor: a screenshot of the error, how far the journey got, and a plain-English summary of what went wrong.

Why does a Shopify store need this?

Because the things that break your store are usually the things you did not change. A theme update, an app update, or an app you installed last month silently conflicting with your cart. The storefront still loads. The add-to-cart button stops doing anything.

Shopify's own status page reports Shopify's problems, not your store's. An uptime tool reports that your storefront answered. Neither notices that clicking add to cart now does nothing on your bestselling product.

Is there a Shopify app to install?

No, and there is nothing to add to your theme. Simrix Monitor works entirely from the outside, driving a browser against your public storefront the same way a shopper's browser does. That means no permissions to grant, no code in your theme, nothing to break during an update, and nothing to uninstall.

It does recognise that a store is running on Shopify and suggests the templates that suit it, but that is a convenience, not an integration. No store data, order data or admin access is involved at any point.

What should a Shopify store monitor?

Monitor What it confirms
Add to cart on a bestseller Clicking add to cart makes the cart appear
Checkout opens Clicking through from the cart reaches your checkout
Product page The page renders with its price and buy button
Collection page The listing renders rather than coming back empty
Theme change watch The product template has not visibly changed after an update

The first two are the ones worth setting up today. The rest can wait until you have seen how the alerts feel.

What can't it check on Shopify?

It cannot complete an order. Checks confirm the shopper can reach your checkout, not that a card is charged, and they never enter card details. It also cannot sign in, so it cannot check a customer account area or anything behind a login.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to install anything on my store?

No. There is no app, no theme edit, no script and no tag. You give Simrix Monitor a URL and it drives a browser from outside, exactly as a shopper would.

Will it slow my store down or affect my traffic numbers?

The load is a handful of page views on your schedule, which is negligible against real traffic. Checks do come from a browser, so they can appear in analytics like any other visit.

Can it test a real order?

No. Checks confirm the journey reaches your checkout page. They do not enter card details or complete a purchase.

Does it work with a custom or headless theme?

Yes. Checks run against the rendered page, so whatever builds that page is irrelevant as long as it is reachable in a browser.

Will it catch a bad app update?

If the update breaks something visible in a journey you monitor, yes. That is the common case: an app conflicts with the cart, the button stops working, and the next check fails with a screenshot.
